JINGASA from the EDO period, conical Samurai headdress in harikake (paper mache)

About the Item

Authentic and origina Jingasa from the Edo period, conical Samurai headdress in harikake (paper mache technique) covered with black lacquer depicting a golden diamond-shaped kamon. Without tehen (opening at the top of the helmet). With black lacquered interior with a red signature (see photo) In good condition for its age, the exterior has lacquer chips and dents. Inside there are chin straps, called ago-himo. Provenance: from a Private collection - Sold Bonhams London November 2019. Diameter: 32cm Height: 20cm Reference S1864
